- You have some text, graphics and other label objects to appear in the same way on every label, but other data will vary from label to label.
- Your workflow involves multiple data entry users who should not have edit access to the design elements of the label.
Data is entered into placeholder fields using Print Partner. Use a template when users should be restricted from modifying information on the label. Print Partner allows data entry only. Once data is entered, it cannot be saved or modified. Unable to Save Label Files in Print Partner
Data Entry can be performed by using Prompt at Print Time (manually enter text into blank fields) or external data import.
Templates will always open in Print Partner by default. Template creators will need to navigate into Custom Designer or Text Labels and select the template manually in order to edit the template.

- If you want to use counters: Brady Workstation - Using Counters
- You will be re-printing the same imported data, or making frequent updates to the external data which will refresh in the label file.
- You want to quickly create a one-off label.
Use a Label File if you want to save data after it has been imported so that you do not have to repeat the import process. Data can be updated by editing the external data source and configuring one of the data refresh options: Data Refresh in Brady Workstation
