Out of Ribbon Error on the i7100
Alternative Errors: No ribbon found, no ribbon detected.
- Confirm the ribbon is installed in the correct orientation. The ribbon should come off the back of each spindle in a number "9" orientation. Refer to How to Load Labels and Ribbon in the i7100 Printer.
- Confirm the ribbon spindles are tightened counter-clockwise. If the spindles are not expanded, the ribbon core will spin freely on the spindle.
- This error can also occur if the print head heat is set too high for the ribbon. The ribbon will melt under the head of the print head. Refer to How to Adjust Print Head Heat from the i7100 Display and How to Adjust Print Head Heat from the i7100 Driver.
- This error has been seen to occur when the media sensors are not calibrated. See this article to perform recalibration of the media sensors: i7100 Sensor Requires Calibration After Upgrading to Firmware 5.14.
