Continuous vs. Die-cut

Die-Cut - These labels have predefined or "pre-sized" dimensions. During the manufacturing process the labels are cut out by a "die" to a specific dimension, making individual labels on the roll's liner. Die cut labels need to be calibrated (as notched or gap) so the printer knows where the labels start and stop so the data appears in the correct location of the label.

Continuous - This media type indicates the label is one long piece. Users specify the size they need using the printer menus or software. There is no need to calibrate continuous material because it can start printing right away without having to verify TOF (Top Of Form) - where the actual label starts.
