How to Setup Data Automation

Note: This video has an older version of the application. The screens in the video look somewhat different now. You should use Brady Workstation Templates and not Labelmark Templates.

Before You Begin

  1. Download and install Data AutomationBrady Workstation - How to Download and Install the Software and Apps from the Web. Direct download link: Automation Suite
Important: You have to be logged on as a Domain Admin or Admin with Elevated Rights using Run As Administrator: Microsoft UAC - Why Do I Need to Run Brady Driver and Software Installs logged in with Admin credentials and using "Run As Administrator".

  1. Configure the Data Automation Service per these instructions: Data Automation - How to Configure the Service (domain login, rights), Watch Folder and Print Driver.

  1. Have these items ready:
  • The printer is connected and the appropriate Windows printer driver is installed.
    • If using multiple printers, you must have Windows print drivers installed for each printer as they will all have different ports (USB, IP Address). You can edit the printer names in Printer Properties on the General tab so you can identify each specific printer.
    • Page Size in the Driver is set to User: Driver Page Size Settings for Brady Software vs 3rd Party Software.
  • A Label template: How to Create a Template in Brady Workstation.
    • Note: A label template and data sample is attached.
    • Each channel must have its own unique template file name.
    • If using multiple label templates, we recommend using the same object names in all templates for data that is shared across templates.
      • Add one column for the printer and another column for the template name which must include .BWT.
    • The template file must be a Template (*.BWT) not a Label file (*.BWS)  Templates vs Label Files in Brady Workstation.
  • The printer is loaded with the correct media for your label template.
  • Data in a CSV file formatted appropriately for import into Data Automation: How to format Excel files for importing into Brady software.
