Versions of Brady Workstation released prior to February 2020 would install the 32 bit version regardless of your PC's bit version to ensure successful data imports. This is because at the time of programming Brady Workstation, Microsoft defaulted their Excel installs to the 32 bit to ensure the the PC's ability to import Excel data regardless of the PC's or the software doing the import's bit version. A few years later, better data importing library files (other than AccessDatabaseEngine) was available and Microsoft changed their default Excel installs to match the PC's bit (if PC 64 bit capable, 64 bit version installed), so we changed how Brady Workstation processes data imports and will also install the 64 bit version of Brady Workstation if the PC is 64 bit.
However, if the 32 bit version of Brady Workstation is currently installed on your 64 bit PC, Brady Workstation software updates will not automatically upgrade the Brady Workstation version to 64 bit, since this requires major changes to the app's system files. Brady Workstation would need to be uninstalled, the latest version of Brady Workstation downloaded and installed. A. The wrong bit version of Microsoft AccessDatabaseEngine (MADE) is installed
- Note: As of February 2020 BWS no longer relies on MADE to import data from Excel files (xls, xlsx) or text files (*.txt, *.csv) files. The MADE is still required for importing from a Microsoft Access Database (*.mdb ir *.accdb).
1. Verify the bit version of Microsoft Office. You can open the task manager to view bit version information.
2. Download MS AccessDatabaseEngine X64.exe 2010 Redistributable
3. Select the appropriate bit version based on the bit version of Excel determined in step 1.
4. Click Next
5. Save and run the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe file as administrator once it has been downloaded.
6. If you receive the message "You cannot install the 64-bit version of Microsoft Access Database Engine..":
7. If this does not correct the problem:
