Causes
  • The pogo pins that detect the ribbon cell may be damaged or malformed. 
  • The microchip on the ribbon is corrupt.
  • The programming information in the "touch cell" of the ribbon is newer than what the firmware of the printer can interpret.

Troubleshooting
 
  1. Open the cover and install ribbon correctly and/or try a different ribbon cartridge. Power-cycle the printer.

  1. Check the pogo pins for damage: BBP30/BBP31/BBP33 ERROR 66 & ERROR 68.

  1. If the pogo pins are not damaged, upgrade the printer firmware:
