Troubleshooting
- Over time the latch pin for the print mechanism can wear down. If this issue temporarily goes away by applying pressure to the ribbon door (top of the print mechanism) while printing, it is likely the spring for the latch pin as worn. These components can be replaced by Brady's repair team: Requesting a Repair Authorization for a Brady Benchtop Printer.
- The ribbon broke and is not between the two white ribbon spindles, the ribbon needs to be replaced.
- The ribbon is at its end. Replace with a new ribbon.
- The print engine has built up dust or debris that requires cleaning.
Please see the picture below for cleaning instructions. We recommend 90% isopropyl alcohol and swabs as well as compressed air for cleaning. Refer to BBP30 / BBP31 / BBP33 / S3100 - How to Clean Your Printer for more information.
- Your printer is using older firmware (uncommon).
To determine firmware version currently installed:
Note: Version 118/119 of firmware is for the BBP31 printer without a network / Ethernet port.
If your BBP31 has the BNC (Brady Network Card), use firmware version 207. Always check this page on BradyID.com for the most current version.
