Issue

A user connects a printer via USB, however windows makes no visual or audible indication that a printer has been connected.


Troubleshooting
 
  1. Make sure the USB cable has not been plugged into the network port: How to Connect a USB Type B Cable to a Printer.
 
  1. On the PC side, make sure the USB cable is not connected to a docking station or USB hub: Connectivity Issues Caused by Docking Stations and USB Hubs.
 
  1. Try another USB port and cable.
 
  1. Power cycle the printer. Look at the Control Panel < Devices and Printers to verify if the printer displays. Unplug the cable and plug it back in to see if anything changes.
