If the printer is not feeding when installing or changing label supplies there are a few troubleshooting steps that can be taken to ensure that the printer will feed them correctly.
If this is the first time setup for the printer, make sure that you install the J2000 Status Monitor (How to Install the J2000 Driver) and follow the prompts that are shown during the setup process. One of these steps is the vertical and horizontal alignment which is necessary for the printer to work correctly. If the printer has been set up and the status monitor has been installed please follow the below steps to troubleshoot:
- An ink cartridge should be installed in the printer at all times. Please install an ink cartridge: How to Load or Replace the Ink Cartridge in the J2000.
- Double check that the label materials are loaded correctly. All J2000 label materials will have a black plastic disk that contains the RFID information. This disk needs to be facing the left side of the printer: J2000 - How to install or change labels.
Note: Do NOT swap these RFID disks between label media. This will cause the programmed counter to represent an incorrect amount of media remaining.
- After changing label material, allow the printer to sit idle for 10-20 seconds before trying to feed. This gives the printer a moment to receive the RFID information.
- Feed the leading edge of the label material in between the throat guide and side of the printer, directly under the label sensor. Once the edge of the materials is detected, the fan should engage and the feed rollers should grab the labels.
- If the printer fails to feed the label supply, press the load/feed button to manually engage the feed roller while continuing to guide the labels into the printer.
