Troubleshooting "Invalid Media" on the BMP61
 
  1. Update the Printer's Label Library (YB files): How to Update the Printer Label Library on the BMP61.
 
  1. Make sure you are using the correct ribbon and label combination:
 
  1. If using bulk materials which require a separate core, make sure you are including the core that came with the box of media and that the core has not counted down to zero: Best Practices When Using Bulk Media With Brady Portable Printers.
Note: Make sure you are using the correct BMP61 core as there are two cores in the Bulk label boxes, one for the BMP71 and one for the BMP61. The BMP71 has an extra "duck bill" shaped plastic piece attached. The lot number on the core will match the lot number on the box of labels. 
 
  1. Try different labels and ribbon that have different part and lot numbers. This will isolate the issue to the media or the printer. If parts sharing the same lot number throw this error this indicates a bad lot of media. 
     
    1. Internal mechanical failure may have occurred, or in rare instances the wrong core may have been included in the box.

    Contact Global Brady Technical Support for your region for further support. If this is isolated to a single part number or lot number, provide the part numbers and lot numbers of the materials when contacting Technical Support: What Is The Label/Ribbon Part Number and Lot Number?
