Issues/Symptoms

The IP series printer displays "remove ribbon" or "no label detected". Some labels may print correctly, while others only print half of the label. 

Cause

These symptoms often occur when a driver by Seagull Scientific is installed. Seagull's drivers install as driver packages, meaning multiple drivers are installed and will auto-associate whenever a printer supported by that driver package is connected to a PC.


Resolution
 
  1. Remove the Seagull driver package: Remove Drivers Using the Seagull Driver Removal Wizard.
Note: If you need the Seagull package for other printers on your system, you will need to find a way to disassociate that driver instance the IP printer. This is often only a temporary solution, as the Seagull driver will immediately re-associate if the printer is disconnected and reconnected.   1. Install the correct IP series driver for use with Brady Software: How to Install the IP300 or IP600 Windows Print Driver.
 
  1. The printer is in Direct Thermal Mode. The printer should be in Thermal Transfer mode. Adjust the mode in the Driver and verify the setting on the printer: What is Direct Thermal Printing?
