Unable to access buttons on the touch screen? Try Upgrading Without Screen Access.

Requirements
  • Flash Drive
  • Internet connection (to download firmware)

View Current Firmware Version
 
  1. From the Editor, select Menu.
 
  1. In the menu options list, select Info.

Upgrade Process
 
  1. Download the latest version of the Firmware from BradyID and locate the .CAB upgrade file on your PC. 

 
  1. Save the downloaded .CAB file to a USB flash drive.

 
  1. Connect the USB flash drive to any available USB port on the printer. The printer recognizes the upgrade file and displays a message on the touch screen.

 
  1. Follow the instructions on the touch screen. When the upgrade is complete, the printer restarts.
Note: Reference this article if you receive a "no valid firmware found" or "upgrade file not found" error"Upgrade File Not Found" Error When Attempting to Upgrade S3100 Firmware.

Important: The printer will continue to try and update the firmware if you do not remove the USB once the upgrade is complete.  

If the firmware does not fully upload and stops at a percentage for an hour, the printer may be corrupt. You may restart the printer and try to upgrade the firmware again. If the printer is corrupt, the printer will need to be repaired. Contact Global Brady Technical Support Contact Information and provide your serial number How to Locate the Serial Number on the S3100.


Upgrade Without Screen Access

Upgrade the firmware in the event menu options for the standard upgrade are not accessible.
 
  1. Remove power from the printer. 
 
  1. Insert the USB drive. 
 
  1. Hold down the "feed" button on the printer. 

 
  1. Restore power to the printer, continue holding the "feed" button for about 30 seconds. 
 
  1. When prompted, choose Upgrade.
