Importing LabelMark Files and Templates into Brady Workstation
Brady Workstation comes with a Labelmark 4 Converter app that can convert Labelmark 4 files to Brady Workstation files in a batch mode. There is no conversion app for Labelmark version 5 and 6 and each file would have to be opened in Brady Workstation and Saved. This creates the Brady Workstation file, leaving the Labelmark file unchanged.
Important: After you open and save Labelmark files in Brady Workstation, delete or move the Labelmark file into a different folder. Keeping all of the old files can cause slowness within Brady Workstation.
Labelmark software was first created 30 years ago and used some Windows components that no longer work or are supported by Microsoft. Brady Workstation was created on much newer technology and does have some differences to give our users added functionality. Some Labelmark files may not be complete or formatted the same in Brady Workstation as they were in Labelmark. See the following document if this happens: Problems Opening LabelMark Files in Brady Workstation.
Files and templates created in Graphics Mode can be edited by Custom Designer. Files and templates created in Line Mode can be edited in Text Labels. All templates can be opened in Print Partner regardless of Graphics or Line Mode.
Click Open from the left menu and then click Browse.
Note: The Import LabelMark option can be used if you have an existing installation of LM6. This option points to the default LM6 file directory: C:\ProgramData\Brady\LabelMark6. This can also be used as a workaround if you have many files that need to be converted: Can You Convert Multiple LabelMark Files into Brady Workstation Files?
In the lower right, click to change the dropdown to "LabelMark Files & Templates".
Navigate to your LabelMark file, select it and click "Open".
Saving the file will create a new file in the Brady Workstation format. You cannot edit this new file in LabelMark 6, the original LabelMark 6 file will remain unchanged.
Labelmark files opened in Brady Workstation will display just a label part, often using an abbreviated or no longer accurate label part.
In the new Brady Workstation label file:
1. Click on the Document tab.
2. Click on the Change Part or Printer button.
3. Select the printer you are using and the actual label part of the labels to be printed.
