Why Can't I Import Excel Data to My Template?

Information that was marked as a placeholder or pick list in Custom Designer can be edited in Print Partner.

Issue

Information cannot be imported onto the label from Excel Import or Advanced Import.

Troubleshooting

  1. Verify the information has a blue box around it in Print Partner. This indicates the information was marked as a Placeholder or a Pick List during the template creation, and data can be entered or imported onto the label.

If there is not a blue box:
  1. Close the Template in Print Partner.
  2. Open the Template file in Custom Designer.
  3. Select the textbox or barcode and change the information to Placeholder or Pick List.
Note: If using a Pick List, enter the pick list properties. Refer to How to Add a Pick List to a Template in Custom Designer for more information.
  1. Save the file.
  2. Open the file in Print Partner.

  1. If using shapes around a textbox, the shape may be in front of the textbox. If this is the case, a red box will display when you try to import the data onto the label, as seen in the image below. Send the shape to the back by following these instructions: Custom Designer - Controlling Visibility With Layered Objects.
