How to Create a Template in Brady Workstation




Note: The version of Brady Workstation may be a few versions prior in the video. The screens may appear different but the functionality is the same. 

Template Creation & Data Entry Process
Template Creation Using Custom Designer
 
  1. Launch Custom Designer or Custom Designer Lite.

  1. Select you printer and label part, or use Installed part if you have a smart printer.

  1. Select Blank Template and select Create.

  1. Add text or graphical elements to your label template, then save.
 

Static Text and Placeholder Fields
 
  1. A static field remains consistent across each label (e.g. A logo that you want to appear on each label when the placement and size of the logo should never change).

  1. Placeholder (variable) fields accept imported or manually-entered data when the template is opened in Print Partner, Scan & Print or Data Automation. Content in placeholder fields can change from label to label. In the example below, the static Serial field should remain the same on every label. The empty box next to the Serial field will contain the serial number, which will change from label to label. These placeholder fields will accept the serial number from imported, sequenced or manually entered data. For more information about these data import methods, see:

Opening Templates in Print Partner

Note: You can leave your template open in Custom Designer while performing data entry in Print Partner, however you cannot make edits to the template from Custom Designer while it is open in both applications.
 
  1. Launch Print Partner.

  1. Browse to and select your template using any of the 3 options, click Open.
Note: The default directory for saved template files is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Brady Corp\Brady Workstation.

  1. Enter data into the Placeholder field using your keyboard or one of the data import options. You can enter data in any field that is outlined in blue.

Note: If you are in Print Partner and there is information that needs to be adjusted on the template, such as changing the Placeholder text to Static text, follow these instructions to adjust the original template file:
 
  1. Close the Template in Print Partner.
  2. Open the Template in the original App that it was created in. (i.e: Custom Designer).
  3. Adjust the Template as needed.
  4. Save and close the Template.
  5. Open the template in Print Partner.
