Out of Ribbon error appears with the PR and BBP72 printer.
Troubleshooting
Each ribbon spindle has a green knob that expands and contracts the spindle. This is used to hold on to the ribbon supply core and the take-up core. If they are not tightened down the Out of Ribbon error will occur.
Turn the green knob, counter clockwise to tighten. In most cases, this is the cause of the problem. If your ribbon spindles are tight, make sure the ribbon is installed correctly. Some versions of the quick start guide actually have an incorrect diagram showing the wrong way to install the ribbon (see below):
The following diagram is the correct way to install the ribbon:
If the spindles are tight and the ribbon is installed correctly, then a spindle sensor is bad.
