Issues/Symptoms
The BMP71 displays "No media" or "No media installed" even though labels have been installed correctly.
Causes
- The BMP71 must have firmware 1.13 or newer in order to use BMP61 and TLS2200 materials: How to use BMP61, TLS2200 and Handimark labels in BMP71 printer
- If a user loads a BMP61 core into the printer using the BMP71 adapter piece, then swaps to a BMP71 core, the printer will display the "No Media Installed" error. See below examples.
This image shows BMP61 material made compatible with the BMP71 using the plastic adapter piece.

This image shows a BMP71 label natively compatible with the BMP71. Notice the different chip covering and plastic piece is not removable. If this media type is loaded after a BMP61 material, the No Media Installed error will display.

Resolution
Additional Troubleshooting
- Make sure the microchip on the media roll makes good contact with the reader pins inside the printer
- Make sure the contact reader pins in the printer are not dirty or damaged
