TitleBMP51 / BMP53 - How to Connect to the Express Labels Mobile App via Bluetooth on Android (not available on iOS)
Body
Note: Bluetooth cards for the BMP51 and BMP53 have been discontinued in Brady's North American regions since 2013. Bluetooth connectivity for the BMP51 is not available in Express Labels Mobile for iOS.

Configure a Bluetooth Connection for the BMP51 or BMP53

The BMP51 can connect to a mobile device running the Express Labels Mobile App using a Bluetooth compatible BNC (Brady Network Card) on Android devices only.  Apple/iOS devices have to use wi-fi.

Configuring the Bluetooth Card

  1. Install the BMP51(53) driver and launch the BNC utility, or use the built-in configuration utility within Brady Workstation. The same UI and configuration settings are available in either option. The printer must be connected via USB in order to configure the card.

If you have issues establishing a connection between the card and the PC, try power cycling the printer completely, wait 30 seconds after powerup for the card's LED to turn green before connecting the printer. Also make sure the USB cable is connected directly to the PC - not a docking station or USB splitter.

Connecting the BMP51(53) to Your Phone Via Bluetooth

  1. Open the Bluetooth settings menu for your mobile device. The appearance and menu structure may vary depending on the Android or iOS version of your device. If the printer does not immediately appear, try refreshing the devices or disabling and re-enabling Bluetooth on your mobile device.

  1. Enter the PIN configured in the BNC utility, then tap OK.

Add the Printer in the Express Labels Mobile App

Note: If you do not have the Express Labels Mobile app installed, you can find it in the app store on your Android or iOS device.  NOTE: on Apple iOS devices, you can only communicate with a BMP51 or BMP53 printer using WiFi, not BlueTooth.
The printer can be added in the app automatically or manually.

Automatic - The app should automatically detect the added printer, just select "Add".

Manual - If the printer is not automatically detected, it can be manually added following this process:
