Manually Add a Printer in Express Labels Mobile using WiFi Direct
WiFi Direct allows the printer to communicate directly with the wireless network adapter of a PC or mobile device. Configuration via Brady Workstation only needs to be performed for first-time setup. A USB connection is not necessary when connecting via WiFi Direct to additional devices.
The NET-WIFI Brady Network Card can connect via WiFi and WiFi Direct with Android. Apple/IOS devices have to use Wi-Fi. The BMP51 and BMP53 can only connect with Wi-Fi when the Wi-Fi network card is installed. The Wi-Fi network card is no longer sold as of March 2024.
Important: When using WiFi Direct with a mobile device, users will only have access to the printer and internet will not be available. If you log into another Wi-Fi connection, this removes the WiFi Direct connection with the printer. As a result, the printer connection is lost in Express Labels Mobile.
These Brady printers must be configured for WiFi Direct:
Detailed Steps
- Connect your printer to the Wi-Fi on your device.
Note: A screen will prompt for a password. The default password is 1234567890.
- Launch the Express Labels Mobile app on your device.
- Select the Menu.
- Select Printers.
- Select the plus sign.
Note: If you are going to connect to a printer model that is the same printer model that was previously connected, select the three vertical dots next to the printer name and select Forget this printer before proceeding with this step.
- Select the printer model.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct.
- Select next on the Work offline screen.
- Ignore this step if you've performed steps linked in the article at the beginning, and select Next.
- Select the printer.
- Select Done.
