Body | What is Standard "S" Mode? The IP printers are equipped with an RFID reader that will detect any currently installed 'IP Enabled' labels and ribbons. The RFID chip includes the sensor position which displays on the LCD screen. How Does the Printer Get into S Mode? When the RFID tag is not present or not detected, the printer defaults to "standard mode": The printer will show a large S on the screen and throw a soft warning that will say No Label Detected or No Ribbon Detected. These warnings can be bypassed and the printer will be put into Standard Mode. The printer shows an “S” on the upper left of the screen and is not showing the label or ribbon part number
- Installed media is either third-party material that does not have an RFID tag or with non-IP enabled Brady material such has metalized labels.
- There is an issue with either the media holder or the daughter board that reads the reads/writes the RFID information.
Can I Continue to Use the Printer in Standard Mode? You can continue to use the printer, however take note of these considerations:
- The printer will still function in Standard mode but the user will need to manually enter the label part number in Labelmark or Brady Workstation to create the label file.
- Ribbon and label information will not display on the printer LCD screen
- Important: The printer will default to the Gap sensor (on firmware versions above 3.28).
TroubleshootingPlease verify the following if the labels or ribbon are not detected in the printer.
If all the above steps were unsuccessful, contact Global Brady Technical Support with the part number of the material (What Is The Label/Ribbon Part Number and Lot Number?) and serial number IP 300 / 600 - Serial Number Location. |
