Configure WiFi Direct on the BMP51 and BMP53WiFi Direct allows the printer to communicate directly with the wireless network adapter of a PC or mobile device. Configuration via Brady Workstation only needs to be performed for first-time setup. A USB connection is not necessary when connecting via WiFi Direct to additional devices.
Important: When using WiFi Direct with a mobile device, users will only have access to the printer and internet will not be available. If you log into another Wi-Fi connection, this removes the WiFi Direct connection with the printer. As a result, the printer connection is lost in Express Labels Mobile.
The BMP51 and BMP53 can only connect with Wi-Fi when the Wi-Fi network card is installed. The Wi-Fi network card is no longer sold as of March 2024.
- Connect your BMP51 or BMP53 to the PC via USB.
Note: It is not necessary to connect a hard line ethernet cable to configure WiFi Direct.
- Launch Brady Workstation and select the gear icon in Brady Workstation.
- Select Configure Brady Network Printer in Brady Workstation.
- If Available Printers displays, select the printer you are configuring in the dropdown. Select OK.
- Check Wifi Direct.
- Select the WiFi Direct tab to configure the printer SSID and password. Select Apply and then select OK.
- Select Settings on your mobile device, Wi-Fi, and the assigned SSID of your printer.
- Enter the password (Default is 1234567890) and press Connect.
You can now launch the Express Labels mobile app and print to your BMP51(53) printer.
