Custom Designer & Purpose Built Apps

Custom Designer is a single app (our most versatile) that can be purchased only as part of a suite. Suites are collections of Brady Workstation apps that include the apps most often used by certain industries or for certain functions. The suites differentiate themselves by including Custom Designer + a selected assortment of apps

Custom Designer - Customer Designer provides the greatest range of features compared to purpose-built apps which guide the user through a wizard-like label creation process. Custom Designer allows users to edit every graphical, barcode, and text element on the label canvas.

Purpose-built apps - Purpose-built apps streamline label creation by limiting the editing experience to simple text entry and image selection in pre-made label templates. The purpose-built apps below allow their final product (sign or label created from a premade template) to be opened, modified and saved in Custom Designer, allowing full editing control of the premade template: Opening Label Files from Other Workstation Apps in Custom Designer.

Note: Of the purpose built apps shown above, GHS Labels does not come with the suites and the other three, Arc Flash, Arrow Tape and Express Signs all are part of the Design & Print Pro Suite.

Custom Designer is offered in the Design & Print Pro, Automation Suite and Scan and Print Suite. The Design & Print Essentials suite, GHS and Lockout Writer offer a limited version of Custom Designer called "Custom Designer Lite".

Design & Print Pro

The Design & Print Pro contains purpose built apps for creating all types of labels: Arc Flash, Arrow Tape, Asset Tags, Express Signs, Lean Visuals, Patch Panel, Pipemarker (Different versions per country), Print Partner, Terminal Block and Text Labels. The Design & Print Pro contains the Custom Designer app. These types of labels are usually larger in size and may require the ability to print color.

Automation Suite

The Automation Suite contains the Data Automation app to automate label printing. The suite also includes the Custom Designer app.

Scan and Print Suite

The Scan and Print Suite offers an option to create with data from a barcode scanner, keyboard or custom script. The data from these devices or script will populate using the label templates.

Design & Print Essentials

The Design & Print Essentials Suite is offered as a free alternative for end users that require basic label creation features. This suite includes only the Lite version of Custom Designer: Brady Workstation Custom Designer vs Custom Designer Lite Comparison. Print Partner is now included with Design & Print Essentials.

Major restrictions include:
