TitleBP PR Plus and i7100 printers - grinding, ticking, clicking noise
Body
If both ribbon (ink ribbon on top) and material (media, tape, labels on bottom) are not loaded in the printer and Feed is pressed or a print job sent to the printer, the platen roller will stick to the print head and will cause the Stepper Motor to stall. When that motor cannot spin freely, it will make the grinding, chattering, clicking, ticking sound. This can happen with any THT (Thermal Heat Transfer) printer, but we have seen it a few times with the PR Plus recently.

If you do have both ribbon and material loaded, the printhead locked down, and feeding or printing causes a grinding noise, contact Brady Technical Support for further troubleshooting.

Ribbon should always be at least as wide as the material's "web width" - the labels and the liner or carrier. Label materials running directly over a printhead can cause excessive wear on a printhead (the most expensive part of a THT printer). The smooth ribbon protects the printer from the label material and liner.
