Issue
The BBP31 makes a grinding noise and the screen displays an error 61 "out of ribbon" error, even if plenty of ribbon material is remaining.
Cause
This issue is more common on older BBP31 units (2013-2016) that have been heavily used without preventative maintenance. The grinding noise indicates the gears that advance the thermal ribbon are slipping.
Resolution
Unfortunately this printer can no longer be repaired. The printer is obsolete and no longer supported: Obsolete Brady Printers - No longer supported or repaired.
