TitleWraptor - How to Network the Wraptor
Body

How To Setup the Brady Wraptor for Network Communication:

  • Start by ensuring that a working network cable is available to connect to the wraptor. An IT/ Network Administrator should be able to assist and confirm this.

  • To verify if a network cable is working properly;

    • A laptop can be connected to the supplied network cable

    • Click on “start” in the lower left of the desktop to open the Start Menu.

    • Select the “Run” option, in the small window that opens, enter “CMD”, click OK

    • When the black/white window opens, simply type in:  ipconfig

    • This reveals the network address that has been obtained using this network cable connection. Write down the numbers shown for; IP Address, Subnet Mask & Default Gateway.

      • If no numbers show up, then the connection is faulty. You may try rebooting the laptop to see if it needs to refresh. Most likely it’s a bad network cable or faulty connection. Check where the cables plug in on both the printer and into where the cable is coming from to see if it’s a loose connection.

  • If communication is successful and you are able to get the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway, then you can proceed to the Wraptor machine.

    • Touch the “Config” tab onscreen, and set the “Connection Type” to “TCP”

    • Now touch the “IP” tab onscreen

    • The “Port” MUST remain at: 9100

    • Make sure the option is set to “Specify IP Address” this will allow you to enter a static IP address (the number will not change)

    • Press the “Enter IP number” button

      • When the window opens up to enter the information, refer back to the number you wrote down when you pulled the “ipconfig” information.

      • Start with the Default Gateway, then fill in the Subnet Mask:
        Ex:  Default Gateway:  172.20.26.124
        Ex:  Subnet Mask:        255.255.255.0

      • Then you’ll create the IP address, based off of the Default Gateway numbers
Ex:  IP Address:           172.20.26.253 – the number 253 is used as it’s the least likely number to already be assigned to something on the network.

    • Now that the IP information is entered, touch the “Run” tab to make the printer save the changes.

  • After the Network communication information has been entered and saved on the Wraptor, you’ll want to test the communication from a PC.

    • On the user’s computer, click on the Start button to open the Start menu.

    • Select the “Run” option, and type in: cmd  then click OK

    • Now type in the word: ping and enter the IP address used in the Wraptor.
      Ex:  ping 172.20.26.253

    • Watch to see if it quickly returns the results. Look to see “Packets sent = 4” and “Packets received = 4” If this is what you see; the Wraptor has a good connection.

      • If the results show “Packets sent = 4” and “Packets received = anything less than 4, then you’ll want to check the network cable and ensure it’s connected properly to the machine and at the other end.

        • Brady professionals are not responsible for troubleshooting network connectivity. If the cable or connection on the opposite end of the printer is faulty, the user’s IT/Network administrator will have to troubleshoot the connection issue.

  • After verifying the communication between the PC and the Wraptor, by seeing Packets Sent = 4 & Packets received = 4, then you can load the Wraptor printer driver if it has not already been done.

    • Download the latest printer driver from: Bradyid.com and save the .zip folder onto the User’s PC.

    • Right click on the .zip file after it’s copied, and choose “Extract All”

    • Once the Extracted folder appears, open it and double-click on the Installer file

    • When it opens up, the first window will ask you to choose Language

    • Next, you’ll need to click on the “Wraptor” as the printer to install, then click Next

    • When it asks if you’re connecting with USB, choose “No”

    • Then the Add Printer Wizard will open, click Next

    • Choose the option for “Local Printer”, then click Next

    • On the “Select a Printer Port” screen, choose the option to “Create new Port” at the bottom,  click the drop down menu to choose “Standard TCP/IP Port” click Next.

    • Another wizard will open, click Next to proceed.

    • Now, enter the IP address that you put into the Wraptor printer into the top box labeled: “Printer Name or IP Address” then click, Next

    • On the next screen, select “Standard: Generic Network Card” option, click Next

    • Click on Finish

    • It will take you back to the Add Printer Wizard screen, click on Next if “Wraptor” appears in the box in the middle of this window. Click “Next” until you get to the “Completing the Add Printer Wizard”, then click Finish.

    • The Installation complete window will pop up, click OK.

  • After loading a printer driver, it’s important to set the security permissions for the print driver. You will need to be logged in as a computer Administrator to do this:

    • Open Printers & Faxes from the start menu (Devices & Printers on Windows 7)

    • Right click on the newly installed Wraptor driver, choose Properties.  (You’ll need to choose “Printer Properties” on Windows 7 computers)

    • At the top, click on the “Security” tab

    • In the upper box on the security tab, click on “Everyone” so it’s highlighted.

    • In the lower box, check the boxes to; Allow: Print, Allow: Manage Printers, Allow: Manage documents.

    • Go back to the upper box, and click on “Creator Owner” and repeat the steps to Allow the permissions for; Print, Manage Printers, Manage documents.

    • Click OK to both apply, and exit the properties menu.

Setup is now complete, open Brady Workstation or LabelMark to send a test file to the Wraptor.

Note: LabelMark is no longer sold or supported.
