Body | Upgrading the Wraptor FirmwareNote: Wraptors running firmware 1.31 and older will need to come into repair for a Firmware Upgrade. Others can be upgraded in the field. If you are running firmware newer than 1.31, contact Brady Technical Support to obtain the firmware download.
Note: You must use a PC with an internet connection and have a compact flash card installed in the Wraptor to complete the Wraptor OS upgrade
Part 1 - File Management Utility (Obsolete)
Note: The FMU has been obsolete for years and is only supported in Windows XP, see this article for more information: Wraptor File Management Utility
- Link the Wraptor to the PC via USB, serial, or ethernet.
- Plug the compact flash card in.
- Open up the File Management Utility software on your PC. Confirm the Wraptor and the PC are communicating. If not, check the communication setting.
- Select the Upgrade printer files.
- Select upgrade from the internet.
- Click OK on the OS upgrade screen
- Select upgrade button, will start the download file from the internet.
- Click upgrade on the Wraptor upgrade screen.
- It will start deleting files, and then copying files. This part will take a minute or two. Note: Turning off the PC during the FMU upgrade will result in damage to the PC and/or Wraptor.
- Click OK when it says upgrade complete.
Part 2 - Wraptor
- Click on the File Tab, then select Exit
- Select Upgrade.
- Verify the versions and then click OK.
- The Wraptor will now be updating and backing up the registry. This will take a few minutes.
- After the upgrade is done, the Wraptor will tell you to reboot. Turn the power off for a minimum of 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
- A message will be on the Wraptor screen asking to copy the Upgrade files. Select Yes and the Upgrade will continue.
- The machine should say updating files, then ask you to reboot the Wraptor once more. Note: After the reboot, the screen may be blank. If no activity is witnessed after 15 minutes, then shut the power off, and then turn it back on again.
- Cycle the power, and now it should boot up to the File screen and be ready to perform.
