Important: Do not power on the printer before following these steps.
Open the side door to access the interior.
Remove the foam from the supply roll and retain for future shipping.
Remove and discard the two packs of desiccant.
Remove the shipping support bracket as follows:
Use the 7/16" wrench to remove the four bolts and washers attaching the bracket to the frame. If labels block the top bolt, lift the labels to access the bolt.
Remove the bracket from the machine.
Remove the white stabilizer block from between the shuttle plate and unit support plate as follows:
If necessary, remove the ribbon from the feed spool in order to access the bolt. Grasp the roll and gently pull towards you until it is clear of the spindle. You do not need to remove the ribbon from its path within the printer.
Use the 7/16" wrench to remove the bolt and washer attaching the stabilizer block to the shuttle plate.
Remove the stabilizer block from underneath the shuttle plate.
Replace the ribbon onto the feed spool.
Close the side door.
Wraptor A6500 Only - Remove the foam from the wrapper mechanism.
The printer must be packed accordingly to ensure the printer arrives safely. If you do not have the original box, a box kit can be sent once the repair authorization has been received.
Materials needed for shipment
Stabilizer block with bolt and washer
Shipping support bracket with four bolts and lock washers
Note: Use a 7/16" wrench for both of these materials.
Foam for wrapper mechanism (Wraptor A6500 only)
Foam for supply roll
Shipping box, including cardboard pad, bottom foam piece and two upper foam pieces.
Pallet
On the Wraptor touch screen, select ‘Load Supplies’ from Main Menu.
Select ‘Load Supply’ to shift the Wraptor carriage into the un/loading position (image 1).
Power off and unplug the unit.
Open the side door, and remove the ribbon & material from the feed spool.
Close material rollers (image 2).
Insert and secure the stabilizer block between the shuttle plate and support plate.
Insert the stabilizer block between the shuttle base plate and slide track.
Align the hole in the base plate with the hole in the stabilizer block.
Install the bolt and washer (7/16") - hand tighten and then utilize a wrench to secure bolts.
Place ribbon and material back on spools for shipping.
Install Support Bracket and Protective Foam Inserts.
Install the metal shipping bracket - hand tighten and then utilize a wrench to secure bolts(image 1).
Install the small rectangle foam insert into the jaws of the Wraptor by gently pushing down on the top metal bracket of the jaws (image 2).
Install the large square protective foam covering onto the label cartridge spool.
Wraptor A6500 Only - Rotate the wrapper and push down on the black striker bar to insert the foam between the v-roller and v-block. This prevents the wrapper from rotating during shipping.
Important: Make sure the foam is fully inserted, but not so far that it is crushed or bent.
Wraptor A5500 Only - Open the front door, engage the striker with the flagger block to prevent rotation during shipping.
Put together the shipping carton, package the printer, and secure to a shipping pallet.
Fold the carton bottom along the seams and push the tabs into the slots to form a tray with sides.
Place the flat corrugated pad and foam bottom into the tray.
Place the tray on a pallet with 1/2" polypropylene plastic strapping under the tray and through the pallet.
Set the printer into the foam, taking note that the front of the Wraptor A6500 must face the wider portion of the foam. The foam is symmetric for the BradyPrinter A5500.
Place carton around the unit.
Position the left and right foam inserts on the printer.
Note: A5500 only - It may be necessary to remove excess pieces from the foam pieces.
Secure carton flaps and strap the shipping carton to the pallet.
Important: Do not use adhesive tapes of any kind, only rigid polypropylene straps tightened with strapping tools. The Wraptor must ship freight as it weighs more than 80lbs.
Wrap the box with packaging stretch wrap.
Important: You must use a wooden pallet with at least 1/2" plastic strapping. The box alone will not withstand the weight of the printer during shipping.
