Body | Templates vs Label FilesTemplates
Templates are best if you have content that needs to remain the same across every label. Label files are best for simple labels where content changes from label to label.
Templates allow objects on labels to remain consistent for every label. Static objects such as a text box called “Serial Number” can exist on every label along with an empty text box that takes variable serial number data. Templates in LabelMark 6 have the .l6t file extension. Templates are reusable, once a template is opened and data added, the template with imported data can be saved as a LabelMark 6 file (.l6f). This way you do not have to re-import data every time, and your original empty template is preserved for future use. Template files are saved to this default directory: C:\ProgramData\Brady\LabelMark6\Template Files
Static and Variable Fields
A static fields remains consistent across each label. Locking a field in the Label & Object Properties window makes it static.
Variable fields accept imported or manually-entered data. Variable fields can change from label to label. Variable fields are unlocked in the Label & Object Properties window.
Save and open this template, notice the static field “Serial” is locked and remains consistent from label to label. The variable field is ready to accept manual or imported data.
Once content is added to a template file, you can save the template with the imported content as a label file (.l6f). This will preserve that imported content, while leaving the original template untouched for future use.

Label Files
With label files, static content on label files must be manually added for each label. Once data is added, that label file can be saved so the added content is preserved. Label files are convenient for printing the same content multiple times, without the need to re-import or manually add your data every time. Label files have the .l6f extension. Label files are saved to this default directory: C:\ProgramData\Brady\LabelMark6\Label Files
