If the status monitor launches and runs without issues, but begins to lock up with the J2000, try the following steps:

Swap out the USB cable.

Try a different USB port on the PC. 
 
 
 
- 
Try a different PC. 
 
 
 
- 
Uninstall the driver and reinstall the driver: Windows Printer Drivers - Full Driver Removal instructions. 
 
- Check the USB port on the printer to determine if it has become damaged. If port feels loose, this could indicate it has been pulled from the internal circuit board.
