The suggested preventive maintenance for IP Printer series is to clean the printer at least once a week or anytime you change labels or ribbon (whichever occurs first).

Keeping the unit free from dust and removing adhesive and other debris from the printhead surface will extend the life of the printer and ensure quality print output. Please follow the instructions below.

Cleaning supplies:

  • 90% isopropyl alcohol 
  • Lint-free swab
  • Compressed air
Purchase pre-soaked lint-free swabs from BradyID: PCK-6


Set the Cleaning Interval
 
  1. On the printer, press the Menu button.
  2. Press the right arrow until you reach the Service menu. Press the down arrow.
  3. Press the right arrow to Cleaning Interval
  4. Press Enter (center button).
  5. Press the left or right arrow to choose a predefined interval.
  6. Press Enter to save your new interval.
  7. Press and hold the Enter key for about 4 seconds to exit the menu.
 

Clean the Printer
 

  1. Turn off the printer power.
 
  1. Open the cover.
 
  1. Lower the front panel.

  1. Push the green button to lower the print mechanism.

  1. Remove the transfer ribbon and the label.
 
  1. Use a lint-free cloth or swab and 90% isopropyl alcohol to carefully clean the surface of the printhead.
Important: Be careful not to scratch the printhead. Do not use sharp objects to clean the printhead or platen roller.

  1. Use the lint-free swab with isopropyl alcohol to clean the green platen roller

  1. Use compressed air to clean underneath the sensor.
Sensor
 

Allow the printhead and media feed rollers to dry for about two to three minutes before loading material and restarting the printer.
