Importing External Data into a Barcode

Brady Workstation offers functionality to convert imported data to a bar code format. 




Using Basic Import in Custom Designer Lite

Data can be imported to a bar code in Custom Designer Lite using the Basic Import plugin, however the bar code options are limited to code 39 and code 128. Templates with code 39 and 128 barcode placeholders can also be used in Print Partner.
 
  1. Select the Excel Import plugin.

  1.  Select your spreadsheet.

  1. Under Data Element Type select Barcode

  1. Drag and drop your data to the label

Using Advanced Import in Custom Designer Pro

Custom Designer Pro includes the Advanced Import feature. This allows importing data to a wider variety of barcode types (smart link article listing barcode types supported).

 
  1. Select the Advanced Import plugin.

  1. Choose a data import option.

  1. Select your data, modify settings or select Finish.

  1. Select Barcode from the dropdown menu.

  1. Drag and drop data onto the label.

Importing Data to a Barcode in a Template Using Print Partner

You can also create a template with a placeholder barcode in Custom Designer Pro or Lite. The template would then be opened in Print Partner to complete the data import process. 
 
  1. Create a new template file

  1. Add a barcode element, select “placeholder”

  1. Save the template, close Custom Designer and open it in Print Partner
