Cleaning the Print Head and Platen RollerUse 90% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free swab to clean the printer after every cartridge. This may be more or less depending on the environment the printer is kept in. You can use as a low as 70% isopropyl alcohol, but this does not clean through the adhesive as well, takes extra cleaning, and will take longer to dry. Brady sells pre-moistened cleaning swabs (PCK-6).Clean the Screen
- Lightly moisten a soft (non-scratching) cloth with Isopropyl alcohol or a pre-moistened swab.
- Gently wipe the display screen until clean.
- Remove excess Isopropyl alcohol with a dry, soft (non-scratching) cloth.
Clean the Printhead and Platen Roller
- Press the power button to turn the printer off.
- Open the printer cover and remove any cartridge currently in the printer.
Note: Make sure the locking lever is in the UNLOCK position. If not, you will not be able to access the print head.
- Using a lint-free swab moistened (PCK-6) with isopropyl alcohol, gently swab the print head.
- With the same moistened swab, gently brush the platen roller. You may need to lock the printer to access more of the platen roller.
Clean the Sensor
- Clean the Position sensor (the groove between the two black posts) with a can of compressed air or a lint-free swab.
Cutter
While the platen roller and print head may require frequent cleaning, the cutter does not require regular preventative maintenance. The cutter blades are Teflon coated to prevent adhesive build up and are rated for the life of the machine.
