TitleData Automation - Assigning Different Printers
Body
While you need to create a separate Data Automation channel for each template & watch folder to be used, you can print from one Data Automation channel to multiple printers. This is done using the Printer control field in Data Automation, by adding the printers' names (those used by their print drivers in the PC's Printers & Scanners screen) in a Printers field you add to your data source - the csv or txt file being imported.  You can name that column / header in your data source file "Printer" or whatever you want.

When you create a Print Channel in Data Automation, you select a specific Printer in the Printer screen, which becomes the channel's default printer. But the "Printer Name" Control Field in the Map Fields screen lets you assign the printer to use for a specific line of data at print time.  Of course, all printers listed need to have the correct label part selected that matches the one used in the template.  An example of why someone might want to print the same type of labels to different printers would be if they are needed by different departments.  If there is no printers field used in the data source file (csv or txt) or if there is one but it is blank, the labels will print to the printer selected in the channel.

  1. Add a header to the file, as the image below shows. The header used in the example below is Printer, framed in green. For each line of the file put the printer you would like the label to print to.

  1. When you open Data Automation on the Mapping tab, towards the bottom there is a section for Optional Control Fields. In the Printer Name field select the specified printer you would like to print to.

If you want to print labels using the same template, but want to print to separate printers (which do have to have the same label part size loaded to match the template), in your data source add a column named Printer Name and in the Print Channel's Map Fields screen, map the field to the control variable.
