Issue
Users can't connect a mobile device or PC to BMP61's WiFi Direct SSID.
Details
When trying to connect a mobile device or PC to the BMP61 WiFi Direct SSID, the device prompts "Invalid Password" or "Unable to Join".
Potential Cause
If the BMP61 was connected to an enterprise network prior to enabling WiFi Direct, the enterprise network may be sending spoofed de-authentication packets to prevent devices from connecting to the WiFi Direct SSID. These de-authentication packets will be sent for an amount of time specified by the network administrator, and no devices will be able to connect during this time.
This behavior has been seen on enterprise networks using Cisco Meraki Access Points. These Access Points may have "Air Marshal Containment" enabled which causes the connection issue when BMP61 is switched to WiFi Direct mode.
Possible Solutions
- Add the BMP61 WiFi Direct MAC address to the Cisco Meraki Air Marshal Containment whitelist. You will need to have your IT department configure this for you. (Network Administrator)
- Perform WiFi Direct printing outside the range of the Cisco Meraki Access Points of the enterprise network.
- Enable WiFi Direct and wait until Air Marshal Containment stops sending de-authentication packets. (Time determined by network administrator in Air Marshal Containment configuration)
