The Printhead, Platen Roller, and Die-Cut and Leading Edge Sensors require frequent cleaning after every roll of labels or sooner based on the environment the printer is in.
The sensors located inside the printer may be covered with dust that results from cutting the media. Sensor locations are shown in the figure.
Die-Cut and Leading Edge Sensors
Gently wipe the surface of the 4 Die-Cut and Leading Edge Sensors at the locations shown in the figure. Do not allow the alcohol to drip from the swab.
Color Sensors
The 2 color sensors do not need to be cleaned every time. Clean the color sensor every 12,000 inches (30,480 cm) with a cotton swab to prevent color detection errors. To view the cumulative inches printed, select Menu > More Tools > Diagnostics > Info.
There are two color sensors in the printer. One is located under the printhead and the other is located above the platen roller and yellow tab.
If the printer stalls during the cut cycle, the cutter probably needs to be cleaned. Cleaning must be performed by an authorized service technician. Contact Technical Support for assistance.
