Clean the A6200

Note: Review 1:36 - 2:18 for how to clean some of the components. 

Components to Clean:
Required materials:
  • Lint-free swab
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher)
Thermal Transfer Printer Cleaning Swabs (PCK-6) are pre-moistened lint-free swabs soaked with isopropyl alcohol. 


Clean the Tarp
  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Push the gray button on the front of the printer to open the wrapper module.
  3. Dip a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol.
  4. Rotate the wrapper mechanism so that the tarp is facing toward the printer. Push the grooved roller shown below towards the tarp. This moves the tarp away from the lower ridged roller so you can access the tarp for cleaning.

  1. Using the moistened swab, clean the tarp. Make sure the tarp is free of dust, debris and label adhesive build-up.
Caution: Failure to remove adhesive build-up will cause labels to jam on the tarp. 
  1. Close the wrapper module.

Clean the Print Head 
  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the top cover.
  3. Remove the ribbon to expose the print head.
  4. Dip a cotton swab in the isopropyl alcohol.
  5. Using the moistened swab, thoroughly clean the top surface of the print head.

  1. Replace the ribbon and close the cover.

Clean the Rollers and Peel Plate 
  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Press the gray button on the front of the printer to open the wrapper module.
  3. Remove the label supply.
  4. Press the yellow button to the lower left of the peeler to open the peeler door.

  1. Dip a cotton swab in the isopropyl alcohol peeler door closed  
  1. Using the moistened swab, clean the three rollers shown below. Make sure each roller is free of dust, debris and label adhesive. Use as many swabs as necessary so that you are always using a fairly clean swab.

  1. Dip a clean swab in isopropyl alcohol and clean the edge of the peel plate.

  1. Close the wrapper module and open the top cover.
  2. Dip a clean cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol.
  3. Use the moistened swab to clean the platen roller.

Clean the Sensors
  • Label notch sensor in the printer chassis.
  • Ribbon out sensor in the printer chassis.
  • Smart cell contacts in the cover behind the ribbon.
  • Trigger sensors on the wrapper module. 
 
  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Press the gray button on the front of the printer to release the wrapper module. Open the top cover and the wrapper module.
  3. Remove the ribbon and label supply.
  4. Clean the label notch sensor in the printer chassis with a clean swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

  1. Clean the ribbon out sensor in the printer chassis with a clean swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

  1. Clean the smart cell contact in the top cover with a clean swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

  1. Clean the trigger sensors, located on either side of the wrapper mechanism with a clean swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

  1. Reload ribbon and labels, then close the top cover and wrapper module.

Clean the Fan Filter
 
Caution: You must clean the fan filter of accumulated dust.

  1. Use a tweezers or flat-head screwdriver to pull the grate off the fan located on the back of the printer.
  2. Remove the filter.
  3. Clean the filter using either of these methods:
    1. Blow clean air through it.
    2. Wash it with a mild detergent and allow it to dry. 
  4. Replace the clean filter. 
  5. Snap the grate back into place over the fan.
The fan filter is a replacement part that you can order: WRAPTOR-FILTER.
